CONTROLS & INTEGRATION

Make every mechanical, electrical and safety boundary explicit.

Connect feeding, inspection, robotics and the receiving process through one defined sequence with recoverable states and practical access.

ONE OPERATING SEQUENCE

The cell must know when to feed, wait, stop, recover and release.

Reliable automation depends on the exchange between equipment. Demand, available, track-full, part-present, ready, fault, reset, reject-full and safety states should be agreed with the mechanical hand-off.

The controls philosophy also defines recipe ownership, alarm messages, permitted operator actions, restart conditions and how the system behaves when the downstream machine pauses.

INTEGRATION SCOPE

Define the boundaries before detailed build.

Clear responsibilities reduce late modifications and give FAT a coherent basis.

01

Mechanical interface

Discharge height, datum, pitch, access envelope, fixing points, queue length and receiving tooling.

02

Electrical interface

Supplies, isolators, I/O, field devices, networks, panels and cable boundaries.

03

Controls handshake

Demand, ready, available, part-present, fault, reset, recipe and safe-state logic.

04

Safety boundary

Hazards, guarding, interlocks, stops, reset zones, robot space and responsibility for modifications.

05

Data & inspection

Recipe identity, result tracking, rejects, selected production data and external-system ownership.

06

Lifecycle access

Cleaning, jam clearance, changeover, maintenance, calibration, spares and future format provision.

TYPICAL HANDSHAKE

Design for normal production states—not only the ideal cycle.

The final schedule is application-specific, but a disciplined state model makes recovery predictable.

StateFeeding cell responsibilityReceiving machine responsibility
DemandMaintain the agreed queue or prepare one accepted partCall for components within the agreed operating window
Ready to releaseConfirm part available, accepted and release mechanism readyConfirm the receiving position and safety conditions are valid
Transfer completeConfirm release or pick result and update the internal stateConfirm receipt where required and begin the next operation
Downstream stopStop replenishment in a controlled sequence and protect queue pressureHold demand and provide restart permission
Fault recoveryIdentify the fault, create safe access and require the defined resetPreserve the receiving state and coordinate reset ownership

PROJECT ASSESSMENT

Bring the receiving-machine interface into the project at concept stage.

We will help define the right starting architecture, the evidence needed for selection and the interfaces that belong in the project scope.
